Index--->USA--->Summary File 4

In the summer of 2003, the Census Bureau finished releasing sampling data for Summary File 4. Although the data is calculated (this file explains it better, although much less succintly, beginning in page 428), it is statistically considered more sound. The main difference between Summary File 4 data and the main data (i.e.,, Summary File 1 and 2) is that the latter is the direct result of a headcount. SF 4 is based on sophisticated statistical methods.

Having said that, SF 4 counts 64,000 more same-sex couples in the United States, an 11% increase. SF includes five basic areas: state, Metropolitan Statistical Area, Reservation and Tribe Lands, County and City. Summary File 3 does include Zip Codes. Below are the tables already available at gaydemographics.org.
