2000 Census information on Gay and Lesbian Couples, by zip code
The gayest zip codes
These are the zip codes with the greatest cumulation of same-sex couples.
Note: I had previously included zip codes with only 1 same-sex couple. Even though those statistical extremes are curious to look at, they do not represent a community feeling per se, so instead I reflect here zip codes with 5 or more same-sex couples. Each state has the top zip codes starting with 1 couple, though. Source: Census Bureau.

6,135 zip codes report zero same-sex couples. Many of these zip codes include what the Census calls "group quarters", i.e., jails, hospitals, college dorms, etc. According to the Census, 7,778,633 people live in group quarters. The population of the zip codes that report zero same-sex couples is 3,139,011, or barely 1.09% of the total U.S. population.

Zip codes with highest percentage of same-sex couples, 5 or more same-sex couples.
