2000 Census information on Gay and Lesbian Couples, by Incorporated place

Note: I had previously included incorporated places with only 1 same-sex couple. Even though those
statistical extremes are curious to look at, they do not represent a community feeling per se, so instead
I reflect here incorporated places with 5 or more same-sex couples. Each state has the top incorporated
places starting with 1 couple, though.

The Census, in a not very sure-fire way, reported 23,354 incorporated places in the United States. Of those, 7,145 reported zero same-sex couples. However, only two incorporated places with a population of over 5,000 (Pana, IL and Rensselaer, IN) reported no same-sex couples. The Population of the incorporated places with zero same-sex couples is 3,107,025, or barely 1.09% of the total U.S. population. The average population of the incorporated places that report zero same-sex couples is 435.
